Carolina Broomball was founded to rebuilt to develop adult recreational, co-ed broomball in the Charlotte area. We make every effort to maintain a league that is competitive enough for the advanced player, yet recreational enough for beginners to enjoy it too.
It's a great sport that lets you get a cardio workout as you have fun and meet new people.
Typically we have games every Sunday night from 4:30to 7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and watch the fun. If you think you are interested in trying it out, ask for Mondo or one of the team captains. We often have opportunities for "Open Ice" where you can run around and wack that ball around. Feel free to stop by the Extreme Ice Center and see what broomball is all about, or send me an e-mail to let me know that you are interested in playing. Getting Started:
Broomball is a sport, played much like hockey. We play on ice, and follow most hockey rules. The biggest differences are the shoes, the stick, and the ball. Instead of skates, broomball is played with 'broomball shoes' which are essentially sneakers with a thick rubber sponge-like sole that provides a surprisingly good grip to the ice. The stick is a shaft, shorter than a hockey stick, with a rubber head at the end. The ball is made with orange rubber, and is a little smaller than a soccer ball. Beginner's Info
You will need a helmet with full cage or mask, broomball shoes (limited supply available to rent) and a broomball stick (limited supply available to rent). The following equipment is highly recommended: gloves, shin guards, knee pads, elbow pads. We sometimes have extra equipment available to borrow for a game or two.
